Introducing NCD’s Industrial Wireless Activity Detection Gen4, boasting up to a 2 Mile range using a wireless mesh networking architecture. This devices incorporates a high-accuracy acceleration sensor for measuring acceleration changes.  These acceleration changes are used to determine mechanical movement (activity).  When activity is detected, this device will send a wireless message to a remote gateway or modem, and then go back to sleep for a pre-configured period of time.  This device makes extensive use of interrupts to enter the lowest possible power state while sleeping.  This device sends data once activity has been detected and at regular intervals to “Check-in”, letting you know the activity detector is still in operation and ready to go to work.

Advanced Feature Settings

This activity detector has numerous configuration parameters available that may be fine-tuned for your specific application.  Set parameters for acceleration range, data rate, interrupt duration, and interrupt threshold.  With the ability to detect movement in all directions, acceleration limits (in g units) can be defined for all 3 axis of movement.  Moreover, the user may configure OR/AND gates between the interrupts. This allows activity detection (system interrupt) if any single axis interrupt fires (OR condition) or if all axis interrupts fire (AND condition). User can also configure a delay time in seconds which disables the interrupt for that amount of time after a successful interrupt. This enables a user to make sure that the sensor does not drain its battery (with continuous transmissions) if an interrupt condition persists or a wrong condition is accidentally programmed. This time is also used to send a periodic packet to a receiver with latest available data.

Powered by just 4 AA batteries and an operational lifetime of 300,000 wireless transmissions, a 10 year battery life can be expected depending on environmental conditions and the data transmission interval.

The long range, price, accuracy, battery life and security features of Wireless Activity Detector makes it an affordable choice which exceeds the requirements for most of the industrial as well as consumer market applications.

NOTE: The current version of this sensor does not support the inbuilt temperature sensor.
