NCD set out to build the world’s best WiFi AC Current Monitor for Microsoft® Azure®. In doing so, NCD now incorporates a precision Split Core AC Current Monitoring Sensor with WiFi communications directly to Azure®. This current monitor makes it easy to monitor AC current and receive alerts when the AC current value exceeds the preset limits.
NCD’s WiFi AC Current Monitor samples current at a high data rate and calculates the RMS value. Immediately after, the data is transmitted to the Azure cloud. Once connected to Azure, the AC current data can be streamed and monitored via WiFi.
This IoT WiFi AC Current Monitor for Azure® was developed to work with the Microsoft® Azure® Cloud. As one of the world’s most popular IoT platforms, Azure® is an essential tool for monitoring NCD wireless sensor devices.
When it comes to AC current monitoring, nothing compares to the ease of use, low price, high accuracy, operational temperature range, or security features offered at NCD. Note that this device will need to be externally powered and is capable of using a 6-32VDC power supply.
To begin, access the product setup guide under resources to learn how to use Azure® and NCD’s WiFi AC Current Monitor in conjunction.
Microsoft® Azure® is a IoT cloud computing platform that allows for effortless data streaming through a built in cloud shell feature.
Cloud shell is used for data streaming in an easy to read format. Furthermore, aspects of sensor data and how it is received is customizable in the Device Twin section.
A user friendly guide on how to setup NCD’s WiFi AC Current Monitor is provided under the Resources Tab. This guide will cover how to setup the sensor and use the basic testing function on Azure®. Azure has more to offer so explore the IoT platform and learn how to creatively visualize sensor data.
NCD’s WiFi AC Current Monitor for Azure® automatically reports AC Current data samples straight to the Azure® cloud. For many industries, IoT sensors with direct access to cloud platforms bring tremendous value at low installation costs with no hidden 3rd party fees or monthly services outside of the Azure platform.
This device supports:
Upon connecting to the WiFi Sensor for use with Azure®, a Web Interface will automatically appear on screen. This Web Interface is where the settings can be configured for the sensor. Settings such as preferred WiFi Network, Passwords, Device to Cloud Topic, and Azure Account Credentials are found here.
This device sends data periodically based on user-preset timing intervals. As this sensor does not use batteries, the user does not need to adjust the transmission interval with the intention to save battery life.
Not for use in outdoor applications or for use in excessive temperature conditions. This sensor has a minimum current draw requirement on the circuit being monitored of 1.5 amp. Prolonged exposure to extreme humidity conditions may damage this device. The sensing element is rated for use for 5 years and may be replaced. Electronics environmental operating range is -40°C to 85°C. NCD Warranty does not cover use in excessively smoky environments under any circumstances.
