WiFi Thermocouple Temperature Sensor for Amazon® AWS®
NCD set out to build the world’s best Wireless Temperature Humidity Sensor for Amazon® AWS®. In doing so, NCD now incorporates a precision Thermocouple Temperature sensor with our WiFi module and control board. This WiFi Thermocouple Temperature Sensor is made to be directly accessible from AWS®. As one of the world’s most popular IoT platforms, AWS® is an essential tool for a wireless sensor device. Therefore, connectivity of the NCD ecosystem of IoT wireless sensors remains a top priority for the NCD engineering team.
NCD Industrial IoT WiFi Thermocouple Temperature Sensors are capable of measuring extreme high and low temperatures. This wireless thermocouple includes one 5SRTC-TT-K-24-36 K-Type thermocouple probe from Omega.com with a 1m, 24 AWG connection cable, rated for temperature measurement applications up to 260°C (500°F) with an accuracy of ±2.2°C. This wireless thermocouple device comes with K-Type connector, which can be used to connect a higher temperature range thermocouple if needed. This sensor has a built in hot and cold junction to provide highly accurate readings.
This WiFi Thermocouple Temperature Sensor is an ideal product for measuring high temperature in environments with hot equipment such as industrial boilers, industrial part-cleaning stations, furnaces, ovens, and casting units. With a tolerance of up to 260°C (500°F), this sensor gives precise temperature readings in an extensive list of high temperature environments. This WiFi Thermocouple Temperature Sensor can be used to simply monitor temperature in other environments as well such as food storage units, warehouses, assembly rooms, and more.
When it comes to temperature sensing, nothing compares to the ease of use, low price, high accuracy, operational temperature range, or security features NCD has to offer. This sensor will need to be externally powered and is capable of using a 6-32VDC power supply.

Monitoring extreme temperature on AWS® IoT Core®
AWS® has a service called IoT Core® that allows the user to stream sensor data through an MQTT Client. Since this service is accessible over WiFi, you can remotely monitor extreme temperature data coming from your sensor.
Once the sensor is properly set up, data can be streamed as shown in the visual to the right. The Cloud Topic Format can be customized during sensor setup after following the user guide for this product.
The MQTT Client uses this Cloud Topic Format setting as a destination for the sensor to transmit data to. The user would then subscribe to the Cloud Topic to stream sensor data from the cloud.
Sensor Setup
Setting up and using a sensor has never been easier. After following the product user guide listed under the resources tab, the user will be able to configure the sensor’s settings over WiFi as well as use it’s testing capabilities through AWS® IoT Core®.
After creating an AWS account the user will be able to configure the sensor with NCD’s user interface which will automatically open once upon connecting to the sensor through it’s WiFi module.
AWS® IoT Thing Shadow®
Another easy way to configure the settings on this device is to use AWS® IoT Thing Shadow®. Most of the sensor configuration can be done here from the cloud making it remotely accessible.
Testing with AWS is time efficient and easy. The User Guide found under the resources tab will lead the user to the MQTT client like in the following screen. The MQTT client is where one will be able to control the interval of transmission and see the data from the sensor.
